about

Clothing Sourcing, Done Right.

Finding a good clothing factory is one thing. Finding one that hits your quality standards, communicates clearly, meets your MOQ, and delivers on time is another. That’s what we do.

We Speak the Language

Mandarin and Vietnamese-speaking team on the ground. Your brief reaches the factory floor without getting lost in translation.

No Commission. Ever.

We charge a flat project rate. Our only incentive is to find you the right factory — not the most expensive one.

Quality Before It Ships

Pre-shipment inspection at the factory before anything leaves. Sizing, stitching, labels, packaging — all checked against your approved sample.

Built for NZ Brands

We know NZ compliance inside out — Fair Trading Act labelling, MPI biosecurity for natural fibres, NZ Customs duty rates. No nasty surprises at the port.

Clothing Sourcing Agent NZ

Finding the Right Clothing Manufacturer Is Harder Than It Looks

The Problem with DIY Clothing Sourcing

Alibaba has hundreds of thousands of clothing suppliers listed. Most of them are trading companies, not factories. Many will tell you what you want to hear, send a decent sample, and then cut corners on bulk production. Without someone on the ground checking, you often don't find out until the container arrives in Auckland.

That's the single biggest reason NZ clothing brands come to us — not because sourcing is impossible on your own, but because the cost of getting it wrong is too high. Wrong sizing, inconsistent quality, late shipments, broken communication. It adds up fast.

What a Clothing Sourcing Agent Actually Does

A good clothing sourcing agent doesn't just hand you a list of factories. They understand your product, your brand, your budget, and your timeline — and they find the right manufacturer for all of it. Then they stay involved through sampling, production, and shipping to make sure what arrives matches what you ordered.

At Epic Sourcing, our Mandarin and Vietnamese-speaking team communicates directly with factories. No middlemen, no translation gaps. We're your eyes and ears on the ground.

China vs Vietnam — Which Is Right for Your Clothing?

China (Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang)

The world's largest clothing manufacturing base. Best for complex garments, wide fabric selection, high-volume orders, and competitive pricing across almost every clothing category. Lead times are typically shorter due to established supply chains.

Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi)

Fast-growing manufacturing hub with strong capability in activewear, knitwear, and woven basics. Strong for brands wanting supply chain diversification. Vietnam-made clothing sourced under CPTPP may attract preferential NZ import duty rates — worth checking for your category.

Not sure which market is right for your product? That's exactly what we figure out in the discovery call.

Clothing Categories We Source

  • Activewear, athleisure & sportswear
  • Casual apparel — T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, denim
  • Workwear, uniforms & hospitality clothing
  • Outerwear — jackets, puffer vests, rainwear
  • Swimwear & beachwear
  • Dresses, skirts & woven garments
  • Underwear & socks
  • Private label & white label clothing ranges

NZ Compliance for Clothing Importers

Fair Trading Act — Country of Origin Labelling

Clothing sold in New Zealand must be correctly labelled with country of origin. Getting this wrong is a Fair Trading Act breach. We check labelling compliance as part of pre-shipment inspection.

Care Labels — AS/NZS 1957

Care labels on clothing sold in NZ/AU must meet the Australian/NZ Standard for care labelling. We ensure your factory applies the correct symbols and instructions.

MPI Biosecurity

Clothing made from natural fibres — wool, down, leather, untreated cotton — may be subject to MPI biosecurity requirements on arrival. We flag these before your order ships, not after it's sitting at the port.

NZ Customs & Duty

Most clothing attracts a 10–12% import duty rate. Goods sourced from Vietnam under CPTPP may qualify for reduced rates. We work with your freight forwarder to ensure correct tariff classification.

How It Works

Step 1: Discovery Call

We learn about your clothing range — category, target market, quantity, budget, and timeline. We'll tell you upfront if your brief is achievable and what to expect on MOQs and pricing.

Step 2: Factory Search & Shortlist

Our team searches verified manufacturer networks across China and Vietnam. We filter out trading companies and present you with 3–5 shortlisted factories that fit your brief, with notes on each.

Step 3: Sampling

We coordinate sample orders from your preferred factory, review them on your behalf, and flag any sizing, quality, or spec concerns before you commit to bulk production.

Step 4: Production & Quality Control

Once bulk production starts, we conduct pre-shipment inspection at the factory. Sizing, stitching, labels, colourways, and packaging — all checked against your approved sample.

Step 5: Freight & Delivery

We coordinate with your freight forwarder to get your order from factory to NZ port. We handle export documentation and flag any MPI or Customs requirements.

Who This Is For

  • Fashion startups launching their first private label range
  • Activewear brands sourcing from China or Vietnam
  • Uniform and workwear suppliers needing reliable repeat orders
  • eCommerce brands adding clothing to their product range
  • Existing clothing importers who've been burned by a bad factory and need a fresh start
  • Any Kiwi business that wants a clothing manufacturer they can actually trust

Why NZ Clothing Brands Choose Epic Sourcing

Most sourcing agents in the clothing market earn a commission on your order value — meaning the more expensive your order, the more they make. We don't work that way.

Epic Sourcing charges a flat project rate, agreed upfront. No commission, no mark-up on factory pricing, no incentive to push you toward a bigger order than you need. We're on your side.

Our team includes Mandarin-speaking specialists based in China and Vietnamese-speaking team members in Ho Chi Minh City. When your brief lands at the factory, it lands accurately. And because we're based in Auckland, you can pick up the phone and talk to a real person in your time zone.

"Like a secret you don't want to share. Epic has made importing too easy." — Tom Law
