Living in the UK long term, I understand the concerns overseas buyers have about sourcing from Asia. Quality, lead times, hidden costs. I also speak Chinese, know Chinese culture well, and know how to communicate with Chinese suppliers. Sitting between those two is where I am useful.
There was one project where a client asked us to arrange a designer for headband designs. I do not have a design background, and the client needed it urgently, so I decided to take a crack at it myself. The client was very happy with the ideas and drafts, and went to sampling right away. I honestly did not expect that outcome, but it taught me that sometimes you just have to step up and try.
For most enquiries I can match the client to a proven template quickly. When there is minimal input to work from, I can adapt our services and build a tailored fee structure from scratch. The key is making sure every client feels heard, whether they are a standard case or a special one.
Outside work, organising and tidying up.
Rita's mornings are spent with the sourcing team in China, checking progress on live projects or gathering product information for new enquiries. Afternoons are for new client calls, following up on requirements, answering questions, and sending through workflow information and sourcing strategies, sometimes over a video meeting.
That means she is involved from the very first hello through to handing the project over to the sourcing teams, and sometimes all the way to the final delivery check. Working from the UK also means the China team is already awake when a European client's day starts.
